The TA-10 Target Architecture is one of a family of products from Kennedy Carter which support the OMG’s Model Driven Architecture (MDA) – a framework for developing systems using models in which functionality is specified independently of implementation. With such a clear separation of concerns, the MDA lends itself to the automatic generation of platform-specific implementations from platform-independent models.

The TA-10 Target Architecture transforms platform-independent iUML models into platform-specific Java Micro Edition (ME) and Java Standard Edition (SE) implementations.

The Java ME platform is the Java platform for small devices (which range in size from pagers and mobile phones to set-top boxes and car navigation systems) whilst the Java SE platform is one of the most widely used platforms for developing general purpose desktop applications.

The TA-10 Target Architecture is available in 2 variants.

  • The PORTABLE variant applies a fixed set of rules for transforming iUML models to Java.

  • The ADAPTABLE variant applies a set of mapping rules that can be changed in any way to meet the needs of particular projects or organisations.
